NEW ALBUM

Its the one we've all been waiting almost 5 years for. I'm literally in tears right now.

The Strokes To Release New Album, ‘Angles,’ on March 22nd
First Single “Under Cover Of Darkness” Coming Soon
The StrokesThe Strokes announce the release date for their highly anticipated fourth album, Angles, on March 22nd via RCA records in the US, and March 21st via Rough Trade Records in the UK. A new single titled “Under Cover of Darkness,” will be heard on radio starting in February. The complete track-listing for the album can be found below. More details on Angles will be released in the coming weeks, as will details for a Spring US tour.

Angles is the band’s first new release since 2006’s First Impressions of Earth and marks the ambition of that album with the immediacy of the band’s earlier albums Is This It (2001) and Room On Fire (2003). In 2010, the band returned to the road, playing and headlining major festivals in the United States and UK, including the Isle of Wight Festival, Lollapalooza, Hurricane Festival, Splendour In The Grass, Rockness, Outside Lands, and Austin City Limits. Time Out Chicago hailed the Lollapalooza performance as “the best set I’ve seen since covering Lollapalooza. Better than Radiohead in 2008. Better than… who headlined last year? …The crowd…was euphoric.”

Angles track listing:
1. Machu Picchu
2. Under Cover of Darkness
3. Two Kinds of Happiness
4. You’re So Right
5. Taken For A Fool
6. Games
7. Call Me Back
8. Gratisfaction
9. Metabolism
10. Life Is Simple In The Moonlight

Illegal Pets

I want a pet crow. For years they have fascinated me.

Granted, birds are overwhelmingly stupid and can be annoying but comparatively, crows are intelligent.  Certain species have been known to use bread crumbs for bait-fishing. Others have been known to use and create their own tools for better attaining food- such as makeshift knives out of twigs to cut grass. Crows in Australia have learned how to eat the toxic Cane Toad by flipping the cane toad on its back and violently stabbing the throat where the skin is thinner, allowing the crow to access the non-toxic innards; their long beaks ensure that all of the innards can be removed. Some will drop nuts into streets, wait for cars to smash them, then retrieve the crushed remnants.

Then, they're scary. Once, there was over like 50 in my back yard. They were screaming wildly, flying around and grouping in my trees. I'm sure it was something completely habitual, but their behavior strikes me as unearthly; its almost like a bad omen descends upon you when encountering these birds. I distinctly remember walking to class one day, and I passed under a bare tree. The place was completely silent, no living creature in my view, except for this one crow on the branch of that tree. He stared at me, tilted his head sideways, as I stared back. As if to answer my inner question, he crowed at me, loudly, and continued to track me with his beady eyes as I made my way to class. shivers. chills.
They are so beautiful. Glossy black feathers, sharp beak, poised claws, and intelligent eyes- these birds are dark and gorgeous, exotic compared to the typical wildlife that surrounds New Mexico.

My only issue, is its completely illegal to own one as a pet. It probably is also cruelty to animals, but part of me enjoys taming the beast. Caging the hellish creature that omens death and plagues the nightmares of mankind. To trick the trickster, and own something as beautiful and fascinating as a full moon. I want one so bad. So here is what I intend to do. 1. keep up research. 2. learn how to raise wild birds. 3 pray a crow will come my way. 4 not get caught. ONE DAY! <3

Indecisive II- Favorite lyrics 3.5 years running

Ize of the World- The Strokes
I think I know what you mean but watch what you say 'cause they'll be trying
to knock you down in some way. Sometimes it feels like the world is falling asleep.
How do you wake someone up from inside a dream?
Your mind would wander and search for its place in the night.
Your body followed this feeling like following light.
Once that your music was born it followed you 'round and then it gave
your activities meaning and let you be loud. You're sad but you smile.
It's not in your eyes. Your eyeballs don't change.
It's the muscles around your eyes.
An egg to fertilize,
A pulse to stabilize,
A body to deodorize,
A life to scrutinize,
A child to criticize,
Young adults
to modernize,
Citizens to terrorize,
Generations to desensitize.
Your dreams are sweet and obsessed and you're overworked.
You're overtaken by visions of being overlooked. How disappointed would
D.(ead) I.(dealistic) D.(esperate) I.(inventor) P.(ioneer) P.(hilosophers) be to see
such power in our hands all wasted on greed?Am I a prisoner to instincts
or do my thoughts just live as free and detached as boats to the dock?
Just like when music was born and detached from your heart.
Is your free time to free minds or for falling apart?
Night after night you turn out the light.
You don't fall asleep right away.
"Are we... are we done?"
A desk to organize,
A product to advertise,
A market to monopolize,
Movie stars to idolize,
Leaders to scandalize,
Enemies to neutralize,
No time to apologize,
Fury to tranquilize,
Weapons to synchronize,
Cities to
vaporize.

Indecisive

Hopelessly determined
To wait for that one who’ll change it all.
Everyone amazed at her will and dreaming;
They knew she knew and knew
It will be one day.

She dove, plunged, swam
Elegantly
Through the labyrinth, dreaming
And going slow as to not
Pass by and regret.

And once they met,
She fell in total lust-
Changing her dreams for him;
Offering trust to one perhaps deserving.
He loved,

But her heart waned and waxed
Growing shiny and luminous.
Everyone thought it was like a dream,
Seeing them together.
She was elsewhere…

Definitely not.
Now she knew-
Could she resurrect the dream
Of one she dedicated her whole life to?
She plucked out the feathers of her flighty heart
And love died.

hair

I love hair. Its fantastic. I die mine once every month or two. And beards. Those are cool. I miss England because everyone there understood my passion, and they flaunted it. Take this boy for instance. His hair is blue. I mean, come on. That's the raddest thing you've ever seen and you know it. I just asked him if I could take his picture, he asked why, and I told him, I just liked his hair. He just stood there, and like a perfect model, posed for me. Its the power of knowing you have great hair. Sorry, my mental capacity is dwindling because I haven't been to school for almost a solid month. The depth, insight, and stimulation derived from post posts will be better, I promise.
Yay.

The Fervency of Recollection

Edit, revise the things you despise
You're always crying because you'll never get it right.
We're all so wrong but at least you try.
You try so hard I know it hurts.
We can't get better sometimes,
But its not always about making money,
And definitely not about pleasing others.
I never want to see you hate.
Its not the best plate but I have a lot to give.
You have the first choice, always my dear.
A melancholy mood makes things more beautiful,
And intellect can paint a lovely picture.
Rejoice in your pleasures and remember your tragedies.
Some wounds aren't supposed to heal,
Because we have to remember how to feel.
It can all be so overwhelming, but that's the fun of it.
We don't have to take it all in, our heads would explode.
If they pull you down, I'll help you up.
Its not about maintaining youth, maintain happiness
You're happy and sad at the same time
That's perfectly normal.
Don't just reach for the stars,
Reach beyond to grasp the hand of God.
It's not too hard if you actually try;
He has an open hand.
I'll say it forever, because I can and I must,
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you,
I love you...

Best Kept Secrets, Uncovered By Yours Truly (Sorry that was a joke, I'm really not that prideful. Someone else did the hard work and found this stuff out. I just thought I'd share with you all.)

Spring 2011 the strokes are coming out with their 4th album. They took a break from being a band for almost 4 years and have finally been working on their most recent album. All the members are stoked, emphasizing that it may be their best work yet. Could it be their last? Possibly, but for diehard fans like me, even one more song is enough.
